Which languages are easier? SVO or SOV Languages?

Posted by: UtherPenguin

SVO languages follow the sentence structure in which Subject (one commiting the verb) goes first in the sentence, then the verb goes in the middle as the Object (to whom the verb is towards) goes in the end. SOV languages go in the order of Subject-Object-Verb. Example "I will kill you" I will is the subject kill is the verb and you is the object. In an SOV language, the order goes "I,you kill". Some SVO languages include English French and Mandarin. While some SOV languages include German, Somali and Japan

  • SVO

  • SOV

  • I'm a native speaker of Mandarin (a svo language) and Korean (a sov language) and I've always thought that subject-object-verb makes more sense and is easier

I do not know for sure as I only know one language but I suspect that it depends on what type of language one grew up with.
