Whites

For the first time, America's racial and ethnic minorities now make up about half of the under-5 age group, the government said Thursday. It's a historic shift that shows how young people are at the forefront of sweeping changes by race and class. T... he new census estimates, a snapshot of the U.S. population as of July 2012, comes a year after the Census Bureau reported that whites had fallen to a minority among babies. Fueled by immigration and high rates of birth, particularly among Hispanics, racial and ethnic minorities are now growing more rapidly in numbers than whites. It’s the latest in a series of reports that have signaled a major, long-term shift in the demographics of the United States, as non-Hispanic white Americans are expected to become a minority group over the next three decades. For years, Americans of Asian, black and Hispanic descent have stood poised to topple the demographic hegemony historically held by whites. Based on current rates of growth, whites in the under-5 group are expected to tip to a minority this year or next, Thomas Mesenbourg, the Census Bureau's acting director, said. The government also projects that in five years, minorities will make up more than half of children under 18. Not long after, the total U.S. white population will begin an inexorable decline in absolute numbers, due to aging baby boomers   more

Transsexuals

Transsexualism is when an individual identifies with a gender inconsistent or not culturally associated with their assigned sex, i.e. in which a person's assigned sex at birth conflicts with their psychological gender. A medical diagnosis can be mad... e if a person experiences discomfort as a result of a desire to be a member of the opposite gender, or if a person experiences impaired functioning or distress as a result of that gender identification Transsexualism is stigmatized in many parts of the world but has become more widely known in Western culture in the mid to late 20th century, concurrently with the sexual revolution and the development of sex reassignment surgery (SRS). Violence, discrimination, or negative attitudes towards transsexualism often accompany certain religious beliefs or cultural values. In popular culture, transsexualism is often incorrectly conflated with drag performance and cross-dressing. There are cultures that have no difficulty integrating people who change gender roles, often holding them with high regard[citation needed]. Some maintain that transsexuals uphold the traditional role for "Two-Spirit" people found among certain Native American tribes   more

Males

A male organism is the physiological sex which produces sperm. Each spermatozoon can fuse with a larger female gamete, or ovum, in the process of fertilization. A male cannot reproduce sexually without access to at least one ovum from a female, but ... some organisms can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Most male mammals, including male humans, have a Y chromosome, which codes for the production of larger amounts of testosterone to develop male reproductive organs. Not all species share a common sex-determination system. In most animals, including humans, sex is determined genetically, but in some species it can be determined due to social, environmental or other factors. Blacks

African Americans, also referred to as Black Americans or Afro-Americans, are citizens of the United States who have total or partial antebellum ancestry from any of the native populations of Sub-Saharan Africa. African Americans constitute the seco... nd largest racial and ethnic minority in the United States. Most African Americans are of West and Central African descent and are descendants of enslaved blacks within the boundaries of the present United States. However, some immigrants from African, Caribbean, Central American, and South American nations, and their descendants, may be identified or self-identify with the term. African-American history starts in the 16th century, with Africans forcibly taken to Spanish and English colonies in North America as slaves. After the founding of the United States, black people continued to be enslaved and treated as inferiors. These circumstances were changed by Reconstruction, development of the black community, participation in the great military conflicts of the United States, the elimination of racial segregation, and the Civil Rights Movement. In 2008, Barack Obama became the first African American to be elected president of the United States   more

American Indians

Native Americans within the boundaries of the present-day United States are composed of numerous, distinct tribes and ethnic groups, many of which survive as intact political communities. The terms used to refer to Native Americans have been controv... ersial. According to a 1995 U.S. Census Bureau set of home interviews, most of the respondents with an expressed preference refer to themselves as "American Indians" or simply "Indians"; this term has been adopted by major newspapers and some academic groups, but does not traditionally include Native Hawaiians or certain Alaskan Natives, such as Aleut, Yup'ik, or Inuit peoples.Since the end of the 15th century, the migration of Europeans to the Americas has led to centuries of conflict and adjustment between Old and New World societies. Many Native Americans lived as hunter-gatherer societies and told their histories by oral traditions; Europeans therefore created almost all of the surviving historical record concerning the conflict. The indigenous cultures were quite different from those of the proto-industrial and mostly Christian immigrants   more

Gay Homosexuals

The Western "homosexual" category has been related to the non-Western "third gender" category. It has been cast as a redefinition and expansion of the third gender category to include all biological males who acknowledge having same-sex attractions ... (instead of only effeminate males). This extension of the third gender is due to various factors that were unique to the Western world, including widespread influence of Christianity and, as a result, encouragement of opposite-sex relationships. Before the concept of sexual orientation was developed in the modern West, only the effeminate males who sought receptive sex from men were seen as a different gender category. The Western equivalents to the third genders, and not men with same-sex attractions, are the ones who started and propagated the Western concept of a homosexual identity.[2][3][4][5] While many non-Western societies show hostility towards the concept of homosexuality, they do accept both men who have sex with men and third genders who have sex with men within the indigenous cultural parameters, just not as "homosexuals." Thus, there is a strong link between what the West calls "sexual orientation" and the non-West calls "gender orientation," what the West calls "homosexual" and the non-West calls "third gender," and what the West calls "straight" and the non-West calls "masculine men." In the West, a man often cannot acknowledge or display sexual attraction for another man without the homosexual or bisexual label being attached to him. The same pattern of shunning the homosexual identity, while still having sex with men, is quite prevalent in the non-West. In fact, in some sense, sexual attraction between men is seen or sometimes practised—either quietly or openly—as a universal male phenomenon, even if held morally wrong in the larger society, and, in the men's spaces, sexual attraction between men is seen as a universal male quality, not something limited to a minority   more

Lesbian Homosexuals

A lesbian is a female homosexual; a female who experiences romantic love or sexual attraction to other females. The term lesbian is also used with regard to sexual identity or sexual behavior, regardless of sexual orientation, or as an adjective to ... characterize or associate nouns with female homosexuality or same-sex attraction. The concept of "lesbian", to differentiate women with a shared sexual orientation, is a 20th-century construct. Throughout history, women have not had the same freedom or independence to pursue homosexual relationships as men, but neither have they met the same harsh punishment as homosexual men in some societies. Instead, lesbian relationships have often been regarded as harmless and incomparable to heterosexual ones unless the participants attempted to assert privileges traditionally enjoyed by men. As a result, little in history was documented to give an accurate description of how female homosexuality is expressed. When early sexologists in the late 19th century began to categorize and describe homosexual behavior, hampered by a lack of knowledge about homosexuality or women's sexuality, they distinguished lesbians as women who did not adhere to female gender roles and incorrectly designated them mentally ill—a designation which has been reversed in the global scientific community   more

Kbub: People with a disability are not considered a "minority". I don't recognize asexuals, pansexuals, agenders as separate sexual preferences besides bisexual, homosexual, and heterosexual. Racially ambiguous people are not a minority and are not widely discriminated against, nor discriminated against in general. I don't recognize intersex people as a group at all, I just consider them either male or female based on their genitalia. Bisexuals are not discriminated against either.

@briantheliberal, some colleges and businesses have found ways around the anti-affirmative action laws put in place. This is racist and discriminative against particularly white males.
briantheliberal says2014-08-14T00:22:44.4596962-05:00
Texans14, boo hoo, white heterosexual males are the most privileged of every group socially, economically and under the law. You conservatives are always milking the "Affirmative Action is oppressing white men" card when it's very existence is meant to combat the privilege that gives you an advantage over everyone else. You own everything, benefit most from everything, yet still complain about being oppressed and it's honestly pathetic.
texans14 says2014-08-14T00:42:16.8571206-05:00
You're saying that the white males own everything. Ok, so I guess African American women multi millionaires don't exist. Oh wait, there's Oprah Winfrey just to name one. A card that progressive liberal democrats often play is that other races have been oppressed by white males in this country for many years. When Martin Luther King Jr. Was leading the civil rights movement, his intention was equality. Not revenge for races that had previously been oppressed by slavery and Jim Crow laws. He won, and then schools and businesses couldn't discriminate against anything uncontrollable (race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.). If he had been alive when Affirmative Action was put in place, I am very confident that he would've been against it.

No one is discriminated against. Discrimination is just a card people use to get sympathy and be the center of attention.
briantheliberal says2014-08-14T19:28:50.1206713-05:00
Texans14, yes white males own every major social and economic institution in the western world. Oprah Winfrey is one of many successful African American women in the U.S. but she does not own any of the previously mentioned. And you are one of the last people who should speak for any leader of the Civil Rights Movement considering most conservatives were clearly against it at the time. The problem with conservatives, you keep trying to pretend that everything should be equal when YOU feel oppressed, but in reality none of us are equal or treated as such. We SHOULD be treated equally, but considering how the world is, that isn't the case.
briantheliberal says2014-08-14T19:42:49.9330086-05:00
Oh and may I add something, I don't believe that anyone should be treated less than equal to anyone else. But this whole victim complex that a lot white conservatives have is a direct reflection of what your party stands for. It reminds me of those conservatives who oppose gay marriage trying to find every excuse to make themselves feel victimized by someone else's marriage. You cannot just ignore the struggles of people who aren't like you because you cannot or refuse to empathize or relate to them. I suggest actually doing your research on the subject before discussing it with someone who has already done exactly that, just a word of advice.
Shield says2014-08-16T17:12:18.2157938-05:00
@kasmic: while I agree that being a female does cause more discrimination regardless of race or other identifier, trans-sexuals automatically trump even a female in terms of discrimination. Thus, trans-sexuals are of course the most discriminated against
PreferNotToBeLabeled says2014-08-16T22:15:54.7580000-05:00
Yeah transexualism is caused by a disorder or birth defect so they should be in insane asylums because they're loony.
