Democratic Schooling

Public schooling where the supreme authority in the school rests amongst the entirety of the student body. There is absolutely no state curriculum or administration and the students choose what they wish to learn. Rules and regulation are created by...  the students through a democratic vote and the student's only real responsibility is to be present for a specific period of time   more

Representative Schooling

Public schooling where the state decides a specific curriculum in which the student should learn but the administration of the school and the students hold considerable power. The students are represented through a republican system where there is a...  government that is elected by the students and has the power to create rules and regulation, petition the administration for a redress of grievances, directly influence the finances and budget of a school, and decide what curriculum is most important for that school to learn (aside from the state mandated curriculum)   more

Common Core Schooling

In public schools, the state takes over the implementation and evaluation of information taught to students. In which the state determines what is more important to be learned, how the student is to learn, what environment should the student be plac... ed in, the level of administrative power the student has, and how well a student must do in order to pass an evaluation written and graded by someone else. The responsibility of the student is narrowed down to learning what is taught, how it is taught when they should attend, and how to pass an evaluation by reverberating what was taught   more

They are each equally as inefficient. Common Core is moronic and holds no purpose outside of giving federal government more power in return for increased funding from federal to state government. Representative Schooling just goes back to how things were prior to Common Core; administrations pocketing funds and the school districts supplying the most tax revenue to the state get all advantages. Democratic Schooling -- Are you insane? Take a group of Middle and high school age kids and let them choose what they learn? You think it will be productive for humanity if we develop an entire generation of graduates that can barely count to 10, but have a highly detailed knowledge of the Kardashians, encyclopedic recall of fashion for all four seasons in the past 10 years, and 4 years of pot class? You want efficient schooling? It's pretty darn easy to do. Every school in every school district receives exactly the same funding per student. Areas of study decided at state level with allowance for a few classes to selected by districts. Every penny gets accounted for and receipts presented and made available for public review. You want to fix the public school system in America...Take the money out of the equation and the problem is solved.

All of these sound terrible. Why didn't you include our current system?

I mean you gave three options. -The first one is very controversial -The second and third ones are just plain stupid. Kids should not be deciding their own curriculum

I added an option to choose neither. These are the options that I found to be the majority of schools today.

MakeSensePeopleDont and nivac817 I know I am late but just wanted to get some info out there. Look at how well students do when they have no authoritarian structure vc with it(public schools). Then think about the school to prison pipeline and look at the data of how that number drops when put in a school like a sudbury one. Honestly the current school system disgusts me, It's horrible and it's the worst sentence someone of school age can be condemned to. Schools suck. The schools we have right now need to be changed.
