Triangle128k: Given the dire straits your county's economy is in and the next bubble about to burst, your sucky trade agreements, your lack of production, your zero interest rates, your wage stagnation and your huge inequality gap, racial problems and social ills and the huge division of your two party system, neither of which gives a damn about the constitutes once in office.... I wouldn't be so quick to paint a picture of socialism as the evil unseen entity to fear Like Joseph McCarthy did with the red scare. In fact the US has many many social programs right now and I bet you enjoy them daily. It might behoove you to take it upon yourself to learn more about this topic and not rely on pundant information and perhaps "think" more deeply about the big picture and not just what effects you and you little world, yes?
I don't think that any country run by religion is oppressive. My country is run by Roman Catholicism, I'm an atheist, and I don't feel oppressed at all. It mostly depends on the type of religion used and the type of laws implemented based on that religion itself.
@Throwback No need to thank me, I'm just being honest. I've grown up in a system based on the religion my entire life, and never had any problem with it. I think political systems based on the particular religion can be more fluid to human needs, on the other hand, Sharia Law, makes things like torture, oppression, mutilation and execution, almost normal. A political system based on Roman Catholicism allows free will.
@heterodox, valid point. Democracy is frightening as a governing system. The thing tipping the scale the other way for me is democracy is mob rule with the slim chance of a good mob. I tend to think others are incapable of even that remote possibility. The best is constitutional republic, "If you can keep it."
Triangle128k I agree, if your trade agreements were better regulated and your actions on Wall Street like derivatives were dismantled...Plus attention to restructuring social programs....Sure your country would be on the path to a economic growth that is real not just on the Dow -Jones. I don't think Marxism can fix your country because it is a theory. I think a more regulated capitalism and more socialism would "fix" your country.
