  • Blacks were enslaved after being brought overseas against their will. Their labor was exploited by slave-owners. The native Americans were not enslaved, they were merely conquered, as happens regularly between nations. The purpose was to increase territory, which is a completely rational reason to push neighboring countries out. I'm not saying that there is no argument against the displacement of native Americans, I'm just saying that it was completely objective. The native Americans were very primitive people with an inferior culture which could not defend itself from the advanced European colonies. Blacks were not pushed out for their land, they were enslaved (they had no option to leave). It is objectively justifiable what Europeans did to native American tribes.

  • They basically lost control over their homeland and in numbers they were reduced to a fraction of what they were in 1492. Even today they haven't fully recovered from this. Also, they were largely forced to assimilate to the culture of the Western colonists and their descendants and today their native cultures only continue to exist artificially.

  • If we are talking about the era of american history, then it's definitely Native Americans. But throughout all of history, I would say Black people, just because not only were they enslaved by americans, but they were also enslaved by the british and the arabs.

  • The Natives had their land taken away, the Blacks were taken away from their land.

  • Ever since Europeans arrived in America, the natives were stolen from, enslaved, murdered, abused, and the list goes on. Black people were just enslaved and in some cases abused/murdered.

  • native people have lost whole tribes. then later cultures went missing and have never been found again. with the amount of people that were murdered it is safe to say that there was a American Holocaust.

  • Northern Natives have been wronged more than African Descendants. African descendants have no history; they can literally go back to Africa and adapt, while the Natives cannot. The land that is occupied is the only land that would have their history.

@BIGC So you're saying that neither Blacks or Natives were mistreated?

African Americans were kidnapped, enslaved, eventually give their freedom, segregated, discriminated, eventually given there rights, and still face some (relatively minor) discrimination problems. Native Americans were invaded, been the recipient of several genocides, forced from their land and onto reservations, eventually given citizenship status and a few tax exemptions, and... Well... Thats were they stand to this day.

BIGC is almost like a parody of your modern social conservative.

"relatively minor" - I wouldn't call being marginalized into impoverished conditions, red-lined and bred into crime ridden areas, receiving harsher treatment under the law, being discriminated against when it comes to employment, not having adequate funding in education in their communities "minor discrimination problems". But that's just me.

"I need all the government help I can get because I am a victim of society." Give me a break... How pathetic can people get? We all have had challenges in our lives some have had to face more hardships than others. What separates us is our will to prosper and ignore all the distractions. I've seen plenty of black people much wealthier than I. Not saying I haven't seen them being poor either, but what this proves is everyone struggles in society. Though if you aren't willing to work for basic needs in life, What will you work for? Nothing. It is simple as that./ People need to start being more independent and quit playing the victim role. "Oh, life is so hard." Yeah of course life has it's challenges, it doesn't mean you can't overcome your challenges. Many people make plenty of mistakes in their life and instead of making excuses for themselves, many realize the only way to truly prosper to start from somewhere even if it means working at a fast food restaurant./ As far as what has happened in the past, I don't owe nothing to anybody else because of slavery or because the destitute situation in which their ancestors had to live through. It is not like anyone has some slave owner down their throat telling them to pick their cotton anymore. Oh, but wait.. Some people see taking orders from superiors at work as being a slave to a slave owner. So, what does it matter when people can just be this pathetic to the point they don't want to work for nothing? This is why I shouldn't have to pay for everyone's government paychecks. We all should be responsible for ourselves. On the same note, I believe if this happens people will see you don't need taxes in order to help people who are at the bottom of the barrel. People naturally are generous and will donate to programs in which help people in these troubling situations./ To be honest I don't have the paycheck to be paying all the taxes in which Baltimore, Maryland, and the government expect me to pay. I can't afford to to keep paying for other peoples' lives. I am struggling enough myself. I don't believe people who work hard for their money should be punished because they do. At the same time, I don't think we should just let people who aren't willing to do much to just sit their and do nothing. We need to help guide them into being more productive citizens.

They were both badly treated. Key word is "were". No descendants of today owe anything at all to any other descendants of today. Nothing from decades and centuries past is an excuse for behavior today.

@brianthebigot I suggest you look up what the word "relatively" means.
stargate says2015-10-07T18:20:38.2939255Z
While both where violated in some way or from, I think blacks where more wronged. This is due to how we treated them as basically animals. While we didn't treat the native Americans much better we still treated better by a little bit.
stargate says2015-10-07T18:20:51.6162401Z
In my view anyway.
58539672 says2015-10-07T18:33:56.1552111Z
@stargate Being treated like animals isn't exactly exclusive to African Americans. The Native Americans were treated like animals in many situations. A few of our earlier presidents went out on Indian hunting raids. The question more or less comes down to what you think is worse. Genocide or Slavery.
stargate says2015-10-07T18:38:47.3444292Z
@58539672 I still think that blacks suffered more. While both where treated badly. I think being a slave is worse then being killed. I am not saying that both are not bad, it is just I think that is worse.
58539672 says2015-10-07T18:42:47.8386540Z
@stargate A fair enough answer. I personally find genocide to be worse for a laundry list of reasons, but when your picking between two really bad option it really depends on the kind of person you are. So far the poll seems pretty evenly split.

I agree @ 58536972

Oh look, Haroush the white, heterosexual male is lecturing us all on how the world works even though he is part of the demographic with the most power and privilege in society. Give me a break. You know nothing of the experience of any marginalized group in this country. And for someone who benefits most from systemic prejudice and discrimination, past and present, you have no water to hold in your criticisms towards anyone else. It is people like YOU with your asinine psychological warfare tactics, propaganda, and micro-aggressive rhetoric that perpetuate these issues and pretend as if you are on the receiving side of them. And anyone who dares to talk about it and oppose your obvious bigotry is the lunatic. This is why I can't take conservatives seriously.
briantheliberal says2015-10-08T00:29:20.7003243Z
"I suggest you look up what the word "relatively" means." - And I suggest you read where I clearly specified that was MY view of your comment. Try being right before being a patronizing fool.
58539672 says2015-10-08T02:19:37.1969498Z
@brianthebigot Well, lets see. You begin by putting the part of my comment that you apparently disagreed with, "relatively minor", in quotations to emphasized it. Then you went on explaining how it is not minor discrimination, completely ignoring the first word of that highlighted segment, despite that one word changing much of the segments entire meaning. You then end with "minor discrimination problems", completely removing the word entirely. So yes, I brought up the fact that you should really learn what that word means and how it effects the sentence, because doing otherwise gives the incorrect and self biased impression that you seem to get hard over. You self righteous bigot.
briantheliberal says2015-10-08T04:42:55.5334756Z
I also clearly said at the end of my response, "But that's just me." indicating that I acknowledge that your view of these issues being "minor" was a personal view, but I did not agree with that sentiment. You patronizingly telling me to look up the word "relatively" as if I didn't already know your statement was relative, again, made you look ridiculous and foolish. And calling me a bigot when you are, in fact, the bigoted person here doesn't change anything I said initially. Do you really want to go down this road again? Because I have plenty of proof of your cowardice and inability to comprehend a simple sentence from a previous poll. When backed into a corner all you do is run away.

When the Americas were conquered, most of the native americans were wiped out due to small pox. African americans on the other hand were still kept alive, and relatively healthy in most states. They were treated like cattle or horses, in order for a good yield in whatever a slaveowner was producing, his property had to be healthy and strong. Native Americans were wiped out though, there have actually been accounts of settlers giving native Americans small pox infected blankets.

@brianthebigot One, ad hominem. Two, Tu quoque. Three, Moral high ground fallacy. Four, False attribution. Five, "patronizing"? Lets take a brief moment to let that hypocrisy set in......... I must say brian, you are a master at combining as many fallacies as humanly possible into any given sentence.
briantheliberal says2015-10-08T21:24:04.0907939Z
58539672, Ad hominem? You mean like when you called me a bigot? Throwing out terms you clearly don't know and are clearly guilty of yourself doesn't help your case. It only shows your hypocrisy. Your entire argument is a fallacy. You're dismissed.
58539672 says2015-10-09T03:15:42.5621205Z
@briantheliberal Thats another ad hominem. Your on a roll. :)
