We have diplomatic relations, but we're not working side by side on anything. Actually, I'm changing my vote to Saudi Arabia, as they've done a million more financial, military, and diplomatic operations with us.
Quotes to put it in perspective.
"Iraq invades Kuwait in August. Abu Dhabi provides financial and logistical assistance to the US during Operation Desert Storm. The UAE deploys 2,000 of its own troops in the conflict."
"The UAE emerges as one of the world’s largest markets for American-manufactured military and defense hardware. Between 1992 and 1994, the UAE spends $360 million on US defense equipment."
"The UAE and US sign a defense pact, permitting the US to base troops and equipment within federation borders. Jebel Ali port, in Dubai, is crucial to US naval operations, as it is the only harbor in the Gulf deep enough to berth an aircraft carrier."
"The United States is attacked on September 11. UAE authorities are among the first to condemn Al Qaeda. The UAE immediately severs relations with the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. The UAE orders banks to freeze the assets of dozens of organizations and individuals suspected of funding terrorism."
First of all, every arab nation has done those things. The only thing unique to the UAE is the financial support. The whole Arab League invaded Saddam's Kuwait, just like 11 countries froze the Taliban (the fact they had investments in the Taliban beforehand was annoying). They're like Saudi Arabia. Rich cities, undemocratic, and low human rights. Only difference is that the Saud's side with the US in about every op in the Middle East. Hell, Al Saud declared us Arabia's greatest friends.
Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan aren't arab countries. Pakistanis are like North Indians. After India hit indipendence the people in north India wanted their own Mislims country--now Pakistan. Afgans and Iranians are desendants of people from the caucus region of Europe who migrated down there. They're white. Especially in Afghanistan people have brown or red hair and green or blue eyes.
Well, I just changed my profile pic, but that's the flag of the Syrian National Council and Free Syria party. It is the nationally recognized independence flag for the revolutionary coalition (even al-qaeda uses it).
America doesn't have natural resources (we don't depend on them), as we built up surplus wealth. Most people work in corporations and labor, rather than farming and agriculture, because we import and trade products of other nations. The Arab world can do that as well, and be just as wealthy without oil (pending they make surplus wealth)
