Why do so many Cannabis users disbelieve it's bad for you?

Posted by: Kreakin

Inhaling or ingesting any poisionous substance repeatedly is bad for you. Yes, THC is a poison the plant makes as a defense.

Their freinds do it so they comply and pretend it's ok to remain in that circle.

Because any negatives threaten legalisation and are used as propaganda in the war on drugs.

War on Drugs is an American term commonly applied to a campaign of prohibition of drugs, military aid, and military intervention, with the stated aim being to define and reduce the illegal drug trade.

You just got reported for breach of terms.

@kreakin. It's not acceptable to state you are reporting someone.

Unitomic: Reported.

"Because it isn't bad for you" Saying taking a known poison isn't bad for you seems like some proof may be required.

To be fair. Netherlands legalised it... And there is a significant increase in newborns wth defects...

Oliver443ify: But they're Dutch and it doesn't count.

Thats possibly to do with the mutagenic effect of colchicine, they use it on the seeds to mutate them and get new marketable strains.
Kreakin says2015-03-30T21:18:33.0494389-05:00
White widow, ak47 etc wher not bred. They treated a batch of 10k seeds and the few that made it to maturity wher new strains. Most did not mature due to the genetic defects caused. No one really nows what other compounds may be by products.

Search Google images for Colchicine cannabis strains. You'll be surprised!

Its just a mess of a poll. Why is this so hard for people?

People seem to really belive that smoking grass isn't bad for them. You won't find many stoners over 50 however as they have learnt the hard way and stopped or have died. Likely due to mental or respiratory health issues. Cannabis smoke has the same carcinogens as tobacco smoke, including ‘benzanthracenes’ and ‘benzpyrenes’. But cannabis smoke may contain up to 50 per cent higher concentrations than tobacco smoke.Cannabis smokers also hold the smoke in their mouths and lungs four times longer, and end up with five times the amount of carboxyhaemoglobin in their blood per cigarette smoked. It’s estimated that someone smoking a cannabis cigarette inhales four times more tar compared with smoking a tobacco cigarette. They also retain onethird more tar in the respiratory tract. Studies have shown that cannabis smoking leads to a range of general respiratory problems that are consistent with a variety of lung conditions, including COPD. These include chronic cough, sputum production, wheezing and acute bronchitis. Cannabis smoke has up to twice the concentration of cancer-causing polyaromatic hydrocarbons as tobacco smoke. In addition, people tend to inhale higher concentrations of cancer-causing components when smoking cannabis because they tend to smoke the cigarettes without filters and to a smaller butt size than tobacco cigarettes. Cannabis smokers also inhale more deeply and hold their breath for longer, so carcinogenic products deposit in the lower respiratory tract. Taken together, this evidence forms a legitimate rationale that smoking cannabis may have greater potential to cause lung cancer than smoking tobacco.

What makes you think it's good for you?
Renegader says2015-03-31T15:28:25.7307467-05:00
I never said that it was good for anyone. I am saying that in moderation, it does no harm. There are countless studies opposing your sources. This is a false dilemma.
Kreakin says2015-03-31T15:34:51.1862049-05:00
Really, common sense surely says inhaling hot smoke particles alone is not a good idea.
Renegader says2015-03-31T15:37:14.0959727-05:00
A lot of your concern focuses on the smoke in the lungs, but I should probably inform you, there are other ways to consume marijuana without combustion. Edibles and vaporization are completely harmless.
Kreakin says2015-03-31T15:40:05.0318240-05:00
I've not even mentioned how ill some people I've worked with have been due to Cannabis induced psychosis.
Renegader says2015-03-31T15:44:31.6235633-05:00
I do not usually entertain anecdotes, but in this case I will humor you. This may be caused by PCP laced marijuana, further supporting why it should be legal, regulated, and taxed.
Kreakin says2015-03-31T15:46:22.5225415-05:00
Possibly, but from what I've seen it's been heavy long term use and a genetic vulnerability.
Renegader says2015-03-31T15:50:35.9750063-05:00
There are long term users who are extremely normal and intelligent. Maybe genetic vulnerability impacts it somehow, but either way, it is impossible to build a strong case supporting the war on drugs.
Kreakin says2015-03-31T15:54:02.7325092-05:00
I would agree most occasional users will suffer no harm, regulating it will hopefully allow people with issues through abuse of it to seek help without fear. So don't think I'm anti legalisation. It just seems alot of people do think it is completly harmless, no substance is without some risks.
Renegader says2015-03-31T15:59:22.5991162-05:00
I hear you, I guess the central dispute is on what the risks are. Anyways, glad to have a productive discussion.
