I doubt that we're on the brink of a third world war. The Middle East is in a constant state of conflict. Recent events are nothing new, and unless the western world (or I suppose China and or Russia) get heavily involved, which I highly doubt that we would, this is just gonna end up being yet another spat among thousands of others.
Well. Let's see here. We had WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan. Did I miss anything? There will be a WWIII. And I think it will be soon. One thing you can always count on is history repeating itself.
Congress won't declare it a war unless another nation declares it first, which Middle Eastern countries will not do. They're content to set up insurgents and kill a few soldiers here and there. It would actually be easier for the US if one of those countries would simply declare war, because then, US forces would simply outgun the enemy, and level them.
Haha, sensationalism much? The Middle East has been in a constant state of war since they've been able to have recorded history. There's always been civil unrest and power struggles between the largest of nations. The only true pattern we're seeing is that everything is becoming more peaceful. There are those who wish the world to end in fire, but sorry, your hopes and predictions are wrong. There may come a day when we're all pulled into a global war, but that day isn't in the foreseeable future.
