  • You mean a TV Station with a sign out front that said, "Whites Only". Yes that would be racist.

  • You mean like a "white" BET channel; WET White Entertainment Television? || Well, BET made sure to have Jim Carey as their one white guy, so logic would dictate that as long as WET employs one black guy, they would NOT be racist....unless equality means nothing anymore LOL.

  • No, I don't think a black only, or women only station is racist or sexist either. I mean it could be, but it doesn't necessarily have to be. It seems pointless for societies that are white dominated, because most broadcasting is geared towards them, but it's obviously not inherently racist.

  • It really depends on the reason for it. In any likely case, it would be exactly as racist as the Black Entertainment Network.

  • Its called the 'NHL' and no, its NOT racist.

  • I don't think it's racist but white ppl basically own tons of networks and such

@fdsa & @triang.128k -- Why would a white only TV station be racist? Do you also believe that BET (Black Entertainment Television) is a racist TV station?

I don't know much about it, but I would consider it racist to some extent. I don't see the need for a TV station which only has people of a certain ethnicity.

@triangle.128k -- BET claims it is for cultural reasons.

@imabench -- LOL I love your explanation on your vote...So true. When I was a kid, my best friend's dad always used to say how black people can't play hockey because they have weak ankles. I always thought he was just racist and just ignored his rants. Then I started studying anatomy and found that black men and women do in fact have weaker ankles due to many factors, but mostly because of their natural decreased bone mineral density; this gets much worse with age. I also found the reason black men (African ancestral men to be most specific) run so much faster and have much better lateral movement quickness than whites (European ancestral men to be most specific) and why white men are better climbers, hikers and distance runners. || This is because of, and shows clear evidence of evolution. Since Africans lived and evolved in an environment with extremely quick predators and prey, as well as the fact that there are such vast, open areas of land; Africans evolved to develop very compact and short leg muscles. This allowed Africans to develop a quick acceleration, higher top running speed, higher vertical jumping capabilities, and high agility in order to chase down prey, run away from predators, and move across large areas of open land to reach cover as quickly as possible. Conversely, Europeans lived and evolved in an environment that was very mountainous, covered in woods and inhabited by predators and prey that were more lethargic, methodical, slower, and much more cumbersome and oafish . For these reasons, Europeans evolved with much longer, more loosely packed muscular structure in their lower bodies; allowing for much better and more efficient distance running, climbing and traversal of rugged terrain.

@Heterodox -- No, he means a TV station like BET for whites
briantheliberal says2015-09-13T01:42:52.8486292Z
Considering everything in this nation is already about white people, yes it would be racist. Besides what exactly would they show on this station that isn't already on TLC and A&E?
PericIes says2015-09-13T01:58:05.2949555Z
@briantheliberal I considered arguing with you, but have decided that you are a lost cause and opted for a gentle head shake of pity.

Pericles, okay.

@BrianTheLiberal -- Really? EVERYTHING in the nation is about white people? Quite an over-generalization there buddy. First of all, the population of the United States consists of 77% white Americans, 13.2% Black Americans and remaining is unimportant. This data comes directly from the Census Bureau and the verified data for calendar year 2013. This means that yes, white Americans out number black Americans 7 to 1 out of every 10 citizens. This does NOT however suggest everything is about white people. Onto that bit of nonsense, everything being about white people: a black president, multiple black Attorney's Generals; Al Sharpton, Don King, Rap, Hiphhop & R&B, the NFL, the NBA, Civil Rights, EEO, Affirmative Action; can I pause the list here so I don't write a novel? Please give verifiable facts for your racist claim there.

Brian, I think you have racism mixed up with discrimination. Racism is the belief that there are value differences between the races such that some people are "better" than others because of their respective races. This is always bad because it is divisive and can lead to hatred and violence. Discrimination is the process of making a distinction between people or things based on some criterion or criteria. This is necessary for us to act. Racism can lead one to racially discriminate which is, in most cases, a bad thing. Most racial discrimination leads to unfair treatment of people and can lead to hatred and violence. I say most because there are possible cases where it would be good to racially discriminate. For example, you would not pick a black cop to go undercover to infiltrate a white power gang. The proposed "white only" TV station would necessarily be racially discriminatory, but it would not necessarily promote racism. To do that, it would need to put out programming that promoted racist beliefs.
