Would you press the button?Posted by: Dr_Obvious
If the worlds population keeps growing, at it's present rate, it will soon exceed the planets ability to support it. This could result in the end of the human race. If you could press a button that would randomly kill 50% of the worlds population, possibly including yourself and save us from extinction, would you do it?
I don't see why I (a complete consumer and taker) has to live. But I would only press the button if there was absolutely no other way. Given that I (a commoner) would have the right to do that.
If we overcrowded the world, then the animals would suffer, too. They're much better than us, anyway.
That's stupid and a sin... a big sin. that's like a super sin wtf. you don't need to kill half the population to solve that problem.
A 50/50 chance of killing yourself? You'd be a fool to press it.
There is always another way to killing without people wanting to die. I would only do it if all the human race wanted to die for it.
No. Killing people randomly is not the answer. The only thing that will result is the complete collapse of every nation on the planet and complete anarchy. What needs to be done putting funding into agricultural and energy sciences in order to survive.
There is plenty of room, that population theory is total BS!
No, I would not. The world's population may be increasing right now, but fertility rates are declining, so the world's population will likely decrease, therefore, hitting a button to kill half the world's population is unnecessary. In order to create a button that would kill half the world's population, we'd also need to accept that any of us could be included in that half of killed people.
Human life is sacred.
That is simply ridiculous! Only a beast with no concept of morality would press it.
