Bernie Sanders

Bernard "Bernie" Sanders is an American politician and the junior United States Senator from Vermont. Before serving in the Senate, he represented Vermont's at-large congressional district in the United States House of Representatives and served as ... mayor of Burlington, the largest city in Vermont. Sanders is a self-described democratic socialist, and has praised Scandinavian-style social democracy.Sanders runs for office as an independent but caucuses with the Democratic Party and is counted as a Democrat for purposes of committee assignments. He was the only independent member of the House during most of his service and is the longest-serving independent in U.S. Congressional history. In an interview with The Nation on March 6, 2014, Sanders stated that he is "prepared to run for President of the United States" in 2016   more

Sanders with Trump as VP.

Bernie Sanders is probably slightly more intelligent than Donald Trump, but he'd still probably be an incompetent loser of a President.

I agree LowInfoVoter. Trump supporters are suckers for a good lie.
LowInfoVoter says2015-09-01T03:28:12.3580197Z
@TBR, Love him or hate him, Trump can sure build some impressive buildings. Political deference aside, it is fairly interesting how Trump can win people over. When trump starts construction on a building 'near you'. Typically there is nothing that stands in his way. Generally, it seems he ends up winning favoritism from antagonistic parties in the end. Government entities and protesters usually become white noise beneath a Trump tower. Just saying.
TBR says2015-09-01T03:30:26.6739096Z
I don't find that very impressive. I don't find his general business record all that impressive either. Certainly none of it means much as a resume to become POTUS.
LowInfoVoter says2015-09-01T03:39:12.1486491Z
@TBR, impressed or not, 8+billion $ in his bank account is nothing to bat an eye at. It is more than you or I will see in a full career.
komododragon8 says2015-09-01T03:45:07.6128972Z
Lowinfovoter: While Trump does have a large sum of money, he did inherit alot of it from his father. He has also been bailed out several times.
Volted says2015-09-01T03:48:41.0575700Z
Trump is willing to actually do something about the illegal immigration problem. He has said positive things about nuclear power. These two things alone are enough to get my vote.
TBR says2015-09-01T03:57:54.4505592Z
Well, no one but Trump says he has 8 billion. Most put it at about half that. Regardless, his business has been both terrible and successful. He has a number of colossal failures he walked from, leaving a lot of very angry investors. He is not some Midas.
LowInfoVoter says2015-09-01T04:23:57.9538480Z
LOL, sources depending, he smiles every time he checks the bank statement. 8 billion, 4 billion 1 million.....Still more than you or I will see. He leads the GOP for now, that is the only reason he is relevant by political standings. POTUS is a marathon not a sprint. Your an individual of decisive decision, i suppose the senator from Illinois was not a betting horse before 2008.
TBR says2015-09-01T04:47:42.1665952Z
I have open offer of a bet. I will bet 1 live bug eating on a live google hangout if trump wins the nomination. You up for it?

Bug eating?..... Seems primitive for an "educated" liberal/Socialist such as TBR,! Obviously trump will not win GOP nomination. We can only hope for a Ben Carson/ Carly Fiorina ticket. Bernie has millennial and Black Lives Matter in his back pocket....That is about it.

Bernie Sanders is an advocate of social democracy, an economic and social model practiced by much of western Europe and Scandinavia. Not only are their economies doing well, but so are the people living in those countries.
ConceptEagle says2015-09-19T02:14:03.1997191Z
@LowInfoVoter, like it or not, you are very much like Donald Trump in a way that you can only maintain politeness to a specific point when talking to someone whom you disagree with. Considering the fact that he went bankrupt 4 times and that one can make more money than Donald Trump by simply investing his inheritance money in the S&P500 for 3 decades or so, his wealth is nowhere near impressive.
USN276 says2015-09-19T16:07:09.9079932Z
57% of people on debate.Org are against socialism. Yet the majority in this poll voted for Bernie Sanders. It just shows how mindless his supporters are that they don't even know what he stands for. You can't automatically be a good candidate because you scream "income inequality!" all the time
tajshar2k says2015-09-19T16:12:48.2265538Z
That 57% consists of people who joined the site like 3 years ago. Some of those people no longer come online
USN276 says2015-09-19T16:14:06.8986662Z
^and what about part of the 43% of socialists who came 3 years ago and no longer come online?
Varrack says2015-09-19T16:40:25.0671826Z
It's common for voters to know just about nothing about the people they vote for. There are videos of people interviewing Obama voters and asking them basic questions about government or about Obama himself, and they fail miserably.
TBR says2015-09-19T16:49:48.9327971Z
@Varrack - The majority of voters across the board are low-info voters. It's just reality.
tajshar2k says2015-09-19T16:52:05.5896731Z
Read what I said before. I said some of those people no longer come online, or do not participate in the polls. The majority of people who voted for Sanders are Pro-Socialism.
TBR says2015-09-19T16:55:16.7595660Z
@Varrack - I have a good DDO real life experiment I would like to do. We all go out and get some footage asking people questions. I am going to find a Trump supporter and ask "How many members make up the US parliament in all four branches of government". I bet I will have plenty of takers trying to answer.
tajshar2k says2015-09-19T16:59:09.4380405Z
Sanders isn't a socialist, he's a Democratic socialist. Learn the difference.
ConceptEagle says2015-09-19T17:19:45.2843121Z
@Varrack, please do try not to only look at the things that you wish to see. There are supporters of all candidates throughout history as well who do not know why they are voting. Yes, there are people like that for both Republican and Democratic hopefuls.
ConceptEagle says2015-09-19T17:21:48.4471016Z
I have yet to see a Trump supporter or person against Bernie Sanders defend him or herself without proving him or herself as a misinformed person.

Peters that would never work since you have two people from different political parties.
Vox_Veritas says2015-10-19T22:47:35.9247019Z
Of what I heard, Donald Trump would cause the U.S. National Debt to increase by 12 trillion dollars. I also heard that Bernie Sanders would implement a 90% tax rate. So neither.
Berend says2015-10-19T23:08:18.2920405Z
So many ignorant people on what socialism is.
Berend says2015-10-19T23:09:24.1236185Z
Vox, he never said he'd raise it 90%. That was a lie fabricated by people because of people like Trump calling him a "Socialist slash communist". It isn't true about him doing such things.
TBR says2015-10-19T23:12:43.8028990Z
I have no issues with 90% tax rates on income past a level.
tajshar2k says2015-10-19T23:21:25.3833292Z
What we need is a progressive consumption tax.
Vox_Veritas says2015-10-19T23:33:45.6175642Z

Hey, USN, fun fact there are over 100 different heil accounts all of which are socialist. The numbers are a little off.
Dash205 says2015-10-20T01:41:48.0503192Z
Bernie Calls himself a Democratic Socialist. What this means is that he believes government should serve the people, not corporations. He means that you shouldn't have to die if you get cancer and can't afford healthcare. He means you shouldn't have to go into debt to get an education. He means that we can't just sit back and let income inequality and climate change destroy us. That is all he means when he labels himself a socialist.
Vox_Veritas says2015-10-20T01:52:05.1370475Z
Basically Bernie Sanders believes that the populace is automatically entitled to such services and he'll rob the rich to finance this. Though it may benefit the majority for the wealthy minority to be robbed (to be fair, it would benefit the racial majority to exterminate the racial minority because it'd mean less resource competition), the rich owe everyone else nothing more than to pay a standard amount of taxes and thus a 90% tax rate would be theft in the truest sense of the word
Vox_Veritas says2015-10-20T01:54:57.4566998Z
BTW, income equality is not "killing us". The average person has enough money to live comfortably; that some people have a ton of money is not criminal.
Vox_Veritas says2015-10-20T01:55:47.4556613Z
Dang it. I just realized that this poll is old.
