Would you support Rick Santorum or Bernie Sanders in an election?

Whats with the little discription "Most Americans respond negatively toward socialism.". Did you think that was necessary to add?
When broken down on party lines, a socialist candidate would earn the consideration of 59 percent of Democrats, 49 percent of Independents, and only 26 percent of Republicans. Overall, socialism charted the lowest of all the backgrounds referenced in the poll. Atheist and Muslim candidates ranked second- and third-lowest among the American populace, at 58 and 60 percent respectively.

Its the same poll I linked to NewLifeChristian, just a CBS story. What of it?
Neither they both suck

Bernie sanders is a socialist and as a libertarian i cannot vote for that. And rick santorum is a neocon
I'm glad Debate.Org is only a representation of the far-left. The majority of Americans (both on the left and right) are anti-Bernie.
@NewLifeChristian I'd rather have a semi-socialist over a crazy far-right nut like Santorum be the president.
Actually A lot of people support Bernie. A lot.
@NewLifeChristian The majority of Americans are anti-any given presidential hopeful at this point. There are too many people in the running for one to have a majority, so your statement is an empty one. That said, Bernie Sanders does have quite a few supporters, and gets more whenever Hillary's number of supporters drops, as he's the only other democrat who can realistically win the nomination.
@triangle.128k Correct me if I'm incorrect, but how in the world can a libertarian support a socialist? It just doesn't make any sense.
@NewLifeChristian Bernie Sanders isn't completely socialist. I agree his ideas are radical, but he supports capitalism to an extent. Rick Santorum is crazy though, he's far right.
@triangle.128k - He's an all-out socialist. In fact, here is a quote from him, "I am a socialist and everyone knows that". I have to give the guy some credit though. Unlike Obama, he openly admits to being a socialist. That's probably the only thing I like about him.
"Socialist" isn't some dirty insult, you know, lol. Just throwing that out there.
Socialism vs fascism, tough choice.
Obama is a capitalist.
@triangle.128k - Apparently every Republican candidate is a fascist. In fact, there is a whole entire biased poll about how Donald Trump is a fascist. Who's next? Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Rand Paul? Seriously, who will be the next target? It seems, no matter who they may be, they are labeled a fascist if they are a Republican.
I've actually never heard a Republican besides Trump called a fascist. If anything, liberals are more fascist, because they want bigger government with more executive control. :P
You guys label democrats as socialists or commies.
@Pericles - I agree.
I don't. Please read my other comments.
In fact, I chose the Bernie option, so yeah.
But fascists support less social freedom, but almost corporatist markets. Democrats support more social freedom than republicans and more control over the markets. So republicans certainly are closer.
@Pericles - I agree with your statement, "If anything, liberals are more fascist, because they want bigger government with more executive control".
We need intelligent people to be president. Santorum doesn't fit the bill. He wants to build a wall across Canada...
Both options suck. I really don't like Santorum, but I know that socialism is definitely not the right path for America.
Americans would not vote for a socialist.
Freedom is more important to me than anything else. Bernie is an old commie hack and I would not want him serving as a President.
Bernie Sanders is literally a socialist! I know people call Obama a socialist but this guy actually says he is a socialist! Wake up America! We're being invaded!
Not my first choice or second or third, you get the idea, but he's still a conservative, so yes.
I would not vote for Sanatorum, but for the life of me I can think of no reason why anyone with common sense would vote for the sanders guy. There is no money to pay for his agenda.
I know only a bit about rick, but know way too much about bernie to want him for any governmental job.
I never really got why America has such a violent stigma against Socialism. Even in more Capitalist countries like UK and Hong Kong they don't view the word socialist as an insult.
I don't want either, but, between the two, Bernie all the way. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=santorum&defid=942955
Santorum is a f*cking idiot. He wants to build a wall across Canada.
Kill a fascist 4 christ
Bernie all the way....and I just learned he was born on the same day as me, Sept. 8th.
Bernie Sanders will stop the corruption and hatred that has plagued america for the past 30 or more years. A country is its people and that's what Bernie Sanders stands for.
