The existence of a Deity

Ytterbium97
prunesquallor

I have placed this debate under Philosophy because I'm not strictly speaking in favor for any religion, merely the philosophical certitude of a deity. I don't want to see egos or emotions get in the way here, just a free exchange of ideas. lolaplant

So many theories previously thought to be true were discredited and said to be false because new evidence comes along that shows that the new theory is more reasonable. Should we put so much faith in science so much so that any other possibility is declared useless...

The Con position is open to anyone, you will attempt to explain to me why 'ratti...

My assertion is simple: There is no irrefutable evidence for the existence of God. Historically, theists have offered many proofs for god's existence. However, I believe all of these proofs have been satisfactorily rebutted. If anyone can offer an irrefutable proof, I will be glad to retract my claim....

Locke_Demosthenes
prunesquallor

I am the affirmative, and thus will argue that rules are made to be broken. The reason for this is simple. People instate rules, then instate punishments for violating those rules. Why would punishments be provided, if rules were expected to be followed? The person who makes the rule does not expect the rule to be followed, and therefore makes a punishment for violations. If a rule is expected to be broken, the obviously, its purpose is to be broken. I'm not saying that people like to have their...
