About Me: | A writer. A husband. A philosopher. An entertainer. A progressive mind carefully wading through a sea of red elephants. Once upon a time, fathers wouldn't let me anywhere near their daughters since I renounce Christianity and thought Donald Rumsfled and Dick Cheney should have been charged with war crimes. Alas, thankfully, my wife is from California, where Republicans are practically Democrats. |
Activities: | I spend a lot of my time working and relaxing -- like 100 billion other people. However, I occupy any free time I have discussing current events and creating parodies with my wife, writing my book, being social, and shaking my head at the love-affair between Americans and celebrities while holding bread and milk in the checkout line at Target. |
Beliefs: | That's an incredibly loaded question, but I'll give it a whirl. I do not believe in a higher power of any kind and I think that for all the good religion can do, there is just as much bad to go along with it. Despite the fact I don't believe in a higher power, I have conceded before that if the Rapture does come into fruition and four scary dudes on horses come barreling through the sky I will admit I was wrong. Until then, religious books are just folklore and tales of morality, and I exist as a product of 3.5 billion years of evolution on Earth, not because some guy yet to be proven to exist created my race with his bare hands 6,000 years ago. |
Books: | I cannot answer this question with specific examples, since there are too many variables to take into consideration when it comes to a favorite of something, like mood, time, current interests, etc. However, I do seem to enjoy classic and transgressive literature more so than crap books written by crap writers. Yes, I've become pretentious since my days working at Barnes & Noble. |
Movies: | I find myself attracted to a variety of films in a variety of genres, directed by a variety of directors and acted by a variety of actors. However, for the sake of being more specific, I tend to like films that aren't made with hundreds of millions of dollars wasted by major film studios. Case in point, Avatar was a piece of shit. |
Music: | Primarily, I listen to alternative rock, which is also very broad and interpretive. I also have an affinity for jazz and blues music, as well as some rap every so often. |
Quotes: | "All this talk about equality. The only thing we all have in common is that we're all going to die." (paraphrased) -- Bob Dylan |
Sports Teams: | In the NFL, it's the San Francisco 49ers. In Major League Baseball, it's the Boston Red Sox. In the NBA, it's the Boston Celtics. In the NHL, it's the San Jose Sharks. |
TV Shows: | I grew up on television, so I have a long-standing admiration for the sitcom, granted it's done well and not beaten into the ground (Chuck Lorre, please, for the love of Zeus, stop making episodes of Two and a Half Men!). I went on an HBO binge some years back, finding myself watching shows like Six Feet Under, Carnivale, Deadwood, Rome, and The Wire meticulously (The Wire: best drama ever!). AMC has me hooked with The Walking Dead, and as to loop the topic back to HBO, I've found myself caught on Game of Thrones and The Newsroom. Fortunately, I also have subscriptions to Hulu and Netflix, so I've had the privilege of watching Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, and Hemlock Grove, all of which have me in anticipation of the next season. |
