It is impossible to think the purpose of education is the development of a person. Here is why, if we look at Paolo Freire"s "Pedagogy of the Oppressed " we notice he mentions the " banking" concept of education. He goes on to say this " Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the teacher is the depositor. Instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiqu"s and makes the deposits which the students patiently receive, memorize and repeat."...

Socrates indeed should have drank the Hemlock. Socrates believed in living justly and honorably. In his perspective to live well was to live honorably and justly.
